LePage to spend next few days in D.C. for national governor’s conference

Gov. Paul LePage was expected to leave Maine on Friday for Washington, D.C. to attend the National Governor’s Association winter meeting.

LePage will join governors from across the country — Republicans and Democrats alike — for a series of sessions on topics such as health care, economic development and education.

Governors will have the chance to meet with President Barack Obama and members of his cabinet, as well as with each other to discuss issues facing their respective states.

More information about the winter meeting is available here:

Adrienne Bennett, the governor’s spokeswoman, said Friday that she will accompany LePage on the trip. She said the governor has declined invitations to attend other NGA events but wanted to participate in this one.

The BDN has requested an interview with Gov. LePage when he returns from the winter meeting next week.
