Report: Maine Heritage head jumping to Summers campaign

A political website in Washington, D.C., is reporting that the head of the conservative Maine Heritage Policy Center will jump over to the U.S. Senate campaign of Republican Charlie Summers as its manager.

The Daily Caller reports that Lance Dutson will lead Summers’ campaign.

Dutson joined the Maine Heritage Policy Center as its executive director in August 2011, replacing Tarren Bragdon. Before joining the policy center, he worked as Maine House Speaker Robert Nutting’s communications director and as communications director for the Maine Republican Party.

He also worked stints for Maine Sen. Susan Collins and New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, according to his biography on the Maine Heritage Policy Center website.

Neither Dutson nor the Summers campaign have returned calls yet to confirm Dutson’s move.
