Bloomberg creating super PAC to support King, others

Independent Senate candidate Angus King on Tuesday attended a campaign fundraiser at the Manhattan home of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Bloomberg is also one of three donors behind a $1.75 million effort by the nonprofit group Americans Elect to boost King’s campaign.

Now, according to the New York Times, Bloomberg is creating his own super PAC to support King and other candidates in state-level and Congressional races who support — as the Times puts it — three of Bloomberg’s three major policy initiatives: legalizing same-sex marriage, enacting tougher gun laws and overhauling public schools.

The Times reports that Bloomberg, an independent, expects to spend $10 million to $15 million on the selected races, supporting Democrats and Republicans.
