N.H. Gov. Hassan gives LePage’s lobster package to soup kitchen

Gov. Paul LePage was having a quiet day Monday. Before allegations were made that he’d told donors at a GOP fundraiser that President Barack Obama “hates white people” — allegations that LePage denies — the biggest story of the day was his shipment of lobster to every other governor in the country.

It was a move to promote Maine’s lobster industry. When the package arrive, N.H. Gov. Maggie Hassan, a Democrat, either felt philanthropic, or just doesn’t love seafood. Hat tip to Ben Leubsdorf of the Concord Monitor, who reported today:

So what did New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan do with her lobster?

According to spokesman Marc Goldberg, it was donated yesterday to the Friendly Kitchen, Concord’s only soup kitchen.

“Is that where it came from?” said Manager Jennifer Lombardo, who said she noticed the package in the Friendly Kitchen’s fridge today.

Leubsdorf also says the food will be given to clients at the soup kitchen.
